Ferrari 458 Spider in Rosso Focca

The first thought that automatically comes to mind when the name Ferrari is thrown about, is the color red. This connection most probably came from the fact that in the early 1990s, a staggering 85 percent of new Ferrari buyers bought their prancing horse in red. Although that number had dropped to 45 percent in 2010, there is still a special attraction to the color red on any automobile that comes out from the heart of Modena. Our spot for this tuesday is a one of a kind Ferrari 458 Spider in a unique shade of a common color.

What you are looking at here is a beautiful 458 Spider painted in the Rosso Focca. Those who follow Formula 1 closely will instantly recognize this shade of red from the Ferrari Formula 1 car from 2007. The paint itself is a multiple layer paint which is actually thicker than normal and is available as an option for the 458 Spider. This special car also has its grill in titanium rather than the standard black. As far as the 458 goes, its is a beauty among Ferrari's of yesteryears who looked like chopped up insects. Power for the 458 Spider comes from the same 4.5 L V8 from the 458 Italia and churns out 570 bhp. 0-100 km/h comes in 3.4 seconds and the car keeps going on to a top speed of more than 300 km/h.

2013 Hennessey Venom GT Gets More Power

Planning to buy a Hennessey Venom GT? 1200 hp not enough? If you answered yes to both those questions, do we have good news for you. For 2013, Hennessey will give the Venom GT more power and some design changes to the body to go along with it.

While power comes from the same twin-turbo aluminum 7.0 L (430 cu in) LS7 Twin Turbocharged V8 engine found in the 2012 Venom GT, it will be increased from an amazing 1200 hp (895 kW) to a jaw dropping 1500 hp (1118 kW). Enough power to get the car to 100km/h with Queen Latifa on board. Probably. Power will be send to the rear wheels via 6-speed Ricardo manual or if the customer wishes, Hennessey also offers a 7-speed paddle shift transmission.

Although official performance figures are yet to be released, more power always translates to better performance and this 300 hp increase should give the 2013 Venom GT a better power-to-weight ratio (more than 1 hp / kg). The 2012 Venom GT came with a kerb weight of 1,220 kg (2,685 lbs), does 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.2 seconds and keeps going on to a top speed of 272 mph (440 km/h).

The Venom will retain its carbon fiber body and active rear wing that gives it the extra down force needed to put 1500 hp on to the road. New changes come in the form of cool new doors which will get a new design with dihedral hinges, a double bubble roof wich should allow for additional headroom, a new headlight design, a new exposed carbon fiber front air damn section, a new hood with the center arch removed and new side mirrors.

The shooting-brake is becoming a more and more common niche that car manufactures are diving into. For those who don't know, shooting-brake is a term for a car body style that has through history evolved into many different roles and niches. So how did this family friendly category of coupe, get a striking name like "shooting-brake"? Here we have the evolution of the niche and some of the major cars in it though out history.

What many dont know is that the term originated for a vehicle used to carry shooting parties with their equipment and game. The term brake was initially a chassis used to break-in horses and was in time used to describe an automobile. Throughout time, the term has been broadened to include five to three-door station wagons that have a coupé body style.

As a car enthusiast my self, to even stumble upon one of these on the streets would be pretty awesome, but stumbling upon three of them at once? Must be a thrill. Two of the Zonda's, the blaze orange and apple red are berlinetta's while the black one is a roadster. The power-plants on the Zonda's is a Mercedes-AMG 120 v12 avalaible in either a 6.0L, 7.0L, and 7.3L displacement. Coupled with the killer quad tip exhaust system produces a lethal combination for anyone in proximity of these untamed beasts.
